UMEAS Reveals 2025 Finalists Ahead of the Awards' 5th Anniversary Gala | ChimpReports
Evolve Group Africa has announced the finalists for this year’s Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS). The contenders will compete for the sector’s most coveted honors during the awards’ fifth anniversary gala, scheduled for Thursday, December 11, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The fifth edition of UMEAS will bring together a range of companies and brands to showcase their marketing successes and demonstrate the quality of their businesses, all under the edition’s guiding theme: “Promoting Sustainable Marketing Excellence.”
The nominees, chosen by the UMEAS jury, will vie for an edge across thirteen categories. In celebration of the awards’ 5th anniversary, Evolve Group Africa introduced a new category: Brand of the Year.
According to Paul Businge, co-founder of Evolve Africa, this year’s event will cover every facet of marketing—from ideation to creation and execution—spanning marketing, communications, digital, and advertising.
Businge noted that the Marketing Council, a six-member body, determines all nominations and holds a sixty percent stake in all public-vote categories, while the public contribution accounts for forty percent in deciding seven out of the thirteen award categories.
The Brand of the Year award, the newest addition to UMEAS, will be decided by the Marketing Council.
“The Marketing Council plays a critical role in preserving professionalism at every stage of the process, as the awards aim to uphold credibility, transparency, and fairness,” Businge stated.
The distinguished Marketing Council comprises Dr. Benedict Mugerwa, Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte, John Paul Okwi, Rogers Anguzu, Barbara Arimi, and Jackie Namara.
John Paul Okwi, head of the Marketing Council, emphasized that this year’s focus centers on sustainability, evaluating campaigns and projects that responsibly use resources entrusted to marketers and that demonstrate a sustainable return on investment.
