Now, after nearly five years, we're finally getting the next installment with Brand New Day. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fame), the film is rumored to feature Spidey joining forces with Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk.
Filming began in August, with Sony sharing a video to mark the start of production. Since then, we've gotten a sneak peek through behind-the-scenes images, giving us an exciting taste of what's to come. Now, we have a major update on the production process. Recently, scooper Daniel Richtman suggested the movie was expected to wrap filming in December. But here's where it gets controversial: Richtman also mentioned the project might return to filming in February.
But wait, there's more! Another scooper, @ApocHorseman from Nexus Point News, stated that while they hadn't heard about February reshoots, they had heard about additional photography in April.
In the announcement video, Tom Holland, the actor playing Spider-Man, shared his excitement about the film, stating: "It's day one—my fourth-ever day one on Spider-Man. You know, it's funny. Putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow. It's also the first time we've ever had fans on set for day one, so it's really exciting to share this with them. [...] We've got some familiar faces on set. You know, I'm just going to do my best, hopefully get it right. No pressure."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
