It's with a heavy heart that we remember Matt (Martin) Hogan, a beloved figure from Midwest Radio, whose life touched so many. He peacefully passed away at his home in Doogara, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon, on December 11th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was formerly of Hollymount, Claremorris, Co. Mayo.
Matt's life was rich with relationships, and he leaves behind a legacy of love. He was predeceased by his son Joseph, his parents Ellen and Jack, and his siblings Mike, Johnny, Mary, Kathleen, and Evelyn.
He will be forever cherished and remembered by his devoted wife Marion and his children: Martina, Rosanne, John, Georgina, David, Matthew, Josephine, Michael, Bernadine, and Stephen. His memory will also be kept alive by his sons-in-law Austin, Brendan, John (H), John (K), and Michael, as well as his daughters-in-law Patricia, Maria, and Ying.
And this is the part most people miss... He was a grandfather to 28 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 3 great-grandchildren, Mary, Alica, and Robyn. He is also survived by his sisters, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, relatives, neighbors, and numerous friends.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Matt will be lying in repose at The Kilgarriff Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, on Sunday evening. The viewing will begin at 4 o’clock, concluding with an evening prayer at 7 o’clock. The funeral will proceed to the Cathedral of the Annunciation and St. Nathy, Ballaghaderreen, on Monday afternoon for a Mass of the Resurrection at 1 PM, followed by burial in Kilcolman Cemetery.
Important Note: The family has requested that the house remain strictly private. They also ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Easkey Lodge Boyle and Teach an Láe Boyle.
