Get ready for a festive twist on your usual bus rides, folks! The holiday season is bringing some unexpected changes to Leicester's bus schedules.
Starting from Monday, you'll notice a shift in the timetables across all bus companies in the city. It's important to stay informed, especially during this busy time of year. So, make sure to check those timetables before you head out, as the disruptions will last until January 3, 2026.
The Leicester Buses Partnership has outlined these changes and extended their holiday wishes to all passengers. Here's a breakdown of what to expect:
Monday and Tuesday: Arriva and Central Connect routes will operate like a typical Saturday, so plan your journeys accordingly.
Christmas Eve: Arriva and First Bus will also follow a Saturday schedule, wrapping up around 6 pm GMT. Novus Direct, on the other hand, will run a Sunday service until 8 pm. Centrebus will halt its weekday services at 6 pm, while Stagecoach and Skylink will finish at 8 pm.
Christmas Day: No buses will be running, so plan your travel arrangements in advance.
Boxing Day: Only the Skylink will be operating, and it will follow a Sunday timetable.
The Weekend After Christmas: Services will return to their usual schedules. However, on December 29, 30, and New Year's Eve, most routes will operate on a Saturday timetable, with a few exceptions. The HH, 81, and 83/A routes will continue as usual.
New Year's Eve: Services will finish early, with most buses stopping at 6 pm. So, make sure to plan your celebrations with this in mind!
New Year's Day: No buses will be running, giving everyone a well-deserved break.
January 2, 2026: Services will mostly follow a Saturday timetable, but the HH, 81, and 83/A routes will operate as usual.
For specific route details, it's best to check with the individual bus operators, as recommended by the Leicester Buses Partnership.
And here's where it gets a bit controversial... With all these changes, it's easy to miss the impact on your daily commute. Will these adjustments affect your plans?
